Laxmi Narayan Tripathi is an Indian transgender woman and trans rights activist. She is the first transgender person to represent Asia Pacific in the UN. Laxmi has served on the boards of several NGOs which conduct LGBT activist work and is also a founding member of the Asia Pacific Transgender Network. She also started Astitiva which advocates for sexual minorities. She was active in the campaign to repeal India’s Penal Code which criminalized being gay and also petitioned the court to recognize transgender as a legal third gender category. #LaxmiNarayanTripathi #LGBTQHistory#QTPOCHistory
